In a significant initiative to raise awareness about cancer and preventive measures, the Paradip Port Authority (PPA) Hospital organized an informative programme focused on “Common Cancers of Male and Female and the Use of Vaccines as Preventive Measures.” The event, held at the PPA Hospital Conference Hall, was conducted in collaboration with HCG Panda Cancer Hospital, Cuttack.

Dr. B. B. Das, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of PPA, graced the occasion, underscoring the importance of spreading awareness regarding cancer prevention. Local women were specifically sensitized about the risk factors of breast and cervical cancers, shedding light on their causes, the associated social stigma, and the critical need for early detection and timely treatment. Additionally, the programme emphasized the benefits of self-examination as an essential tool for early identification of these cancers.

The session also focused on the role of vaccines as a preventive measure, particularly for cervical cancer, which can be significantly reduced through vaccination.

The proactive step taken by PPA in organizing such an event was widely appreciated by the residents of Paradip Port Township, who hailed the efforts to educate and empower the community on such a vital issue. The event served as an essential reminder of the importance of early detection and the potential of vaccines in preventing certain types of cancer.
