“Creating awareness about fire safety among all stakeholders is crucial for safeguarding lives and assets,” said P. L. Haranadh, Chairman, Paradip Port Authority (PPA), while inaugurating the opening ceremony of National Fire Service Week – 2025 at the CISF Main Fire Station in Paradip on Monday.
The event marked the formal commencement of a massive fire safety awareness drive being carried out from April 2 to April 20 under the direction of the Chairman, PPA. This initiative aims to educate port workers, stakeholders, school children and the local public on fire hazards, prevention techniques, and firefighting practices. The theme for this year is “Unite, to ignite a fire safe India.”
Observing National Fire Service Day on April 14 each year pays tribute to the brave firefighters who lost their lives in the Bombay Dock Explosion of 1944 and in other tragic incidents while on duty.
Addressing a gathering of officers, employees, CISF personnel and other stakeholders, Haranadh applauded the CISF Fire Wing of PPA for their consistent performance and encouraged them to aim for the top position nationally, improving upon their Runner-Up trophy last year among 114 Fire Wing Units across India.
The event began with a warm welcome by CISF Commandant Sanat Kumar Patel, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Assistant Commandant Akash Jaiswal. The program was conducted by Inspector Amreesh Kumar, Company Commander, Fire Wing, and received high appreciation from all present for its solemnity and precision.
