BHUBANESWAR, JULY 15, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): In a proactive move towards environmental conservation, Paradeep Phosphates Limited (PPL) launched its ambitious ‘One Lakh Plantation Drive’ today at its Paradeep Plant Site. This initiative, which aims to plant 100,000 saplings within the company’s premises, marks a significant step toward enhancing green cover and promoting sustainable practices.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Mrinal Kanti Biswas, Regional Director of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Puskar Behera, Regional Officer of the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB), Abhijit Pathak from CPCB, and other dignitaries from CPCB, OSPCB, and IIT Kharagpur.
Under the theme “Ek Ped Maa ke Naam,” the initiative underscores PPL’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability. Speaking at the event, Biswas emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in environmental conservation and commended PPL for its efforts in reducing carbon emissions and addressing environmental challenges.
PPL President & COO Rajeev Nambiar highlighted the broader significance of the plantation drive, stating, “This initiative signifies our dedication to creating a sustainable future. Through collaboration with state government departments and stakeholders, we aim to foster a greener and healthier environment for future generations.”
Palanisamy Velusamy, Chief Manufacturing Officer & Unit Head of PPL, echoed this sentiment, saying, “At PPL, we recognize the critical importance of environmental conservation. Our One Lakh Plantation Drive reflects our commitment to expanding green cover and mitigating climate change impacts.”
Puskar Behera of OSPCB applauded PPL’s proactive approach, acknowledging its role in improving local air quality and effectively addressing environmental challenges.
Sumit Senapati, CGM (HR & IR), expressed gratitude for the successful event and reaffirmed PPL’s commitment to assuming a greater role in environmental responsibility in the future.
