The 20th Punyatithi of the visionary leader and Founder Chairman of the O.P. Jindal Group, Om Prakash Jindal, fondly remembered as Bauji, was observed with deep reverence at the Barbil Pellet Plant, Kasia, and Tensa iron mines of Jindal Steel. A series of spiritual and social initiatives marked the occasion, celebrating his extraordinary legacy.
The day began with special puja, Geeta Yajna, and prayers at temples within the townships. Employees, their families, and community members, led by Unit Heads — Purushotham M D (Barbil Pellet Plant), Pramod Kumar Patra (Kasia Iron & Dolomite Mines), Raghuraj Raghuvanshi (TRB Mines, Tensa), and Ashish Ranjan Mohanty (Head HR & ES) — participated in the solemn rituals, paying homage to his revered memory. A soulful bhajan program at Jindal Nagar, Barbil Pellet Plant, saw a heartfelt gathering of employees and locals joining in spiritual remembrance.
As a tribute to O.P. Jindal’s commitment to humanity, voluntary blood donation camps were organized across all three locations by the Jindal Foundation, in collaboration with the Keonjhar and Sundargarh District Blood Banks. The initiative received an overwhelming response, collecting over 300 units of blood.
Adding to the commemorations, the Ladies’ Clubs of the townships hosted special memorial programs, where employees, business associates, and their families came together to offer their heartfelt tributes to Bauji.
Employees at Jindal Steel’s Bhubaneswar office also paid floral tributes to O.P. Jindal. Speaking on the occasion, Prashant Hota, President and Head (Group CSR), reflected on his remarkable contributions to the Make in India vision and his role in fostering industry-led inclusive growth.
Born on August 7, 1930, in Hisar, Haryana, O.P. Jindal was a pioneering industrialist who laid the foundation of the OP Jindal Group, which today stands as a global business powerhouse. Recognized for his outstanding contributions to India’s steel industry, he was conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry in November 2004. Beyond his entrepreneurial legacy, he also served the nation as Haryana’s Minister of Power and as a distinguished member of both the Haryana Legislative Assembly and the Indian Parliament.
His vision, leadership, and humanitarian spirit continue to inspire generations, making his legacy truly timeless.
