RSP Blast Furnace-5 surpasses another milestone in hot metal production

Blast Furnace-5, ‘Durga’, of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has surpassed another milestone by surpassing 17 million tonnes of hot metal production on November 29, with the last one millon tonne made in just 129 days.

RSP CEO Dipak Chattaraj today cut a cake in a progamme organised at the Blast Furnace Complex to mark the achievement.

Speaking on the occasion, Chattaraj congratulated the Blast Furnace collective on their splendid performance; and urged all to ensure steady production with special emphasis on quality, quantity, cost and techno-economics.

Addressing the collective, ED (Works) PK Dash urged the employees to strive further and make all out efforts to meet the set targets. He also emphasized upon preventive maintenance of equipment and machineries so as to avoid breakdowns.

ED (Project) Pankaj Kumar congratulated the collective and stressed on consistency, while CGM Incharge (MM & Marketing) CR Mohapatra appreciated the teamwork of different departments.

To recall, Blast Furnace-5 ‘Durga’ started hot metal tapping in 2013. The Furnace achieved 15 million tonnes hot metal production on February 22, 2020, while on July 22, 2020 it crossed 16-million tonne mark. – TBB
