Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a unit of Maharatna company Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), has registered a splendid production performance on all major fronts in November 2020. Blast Furnace-5 ‘Durga’ was the major contributor which clocked its best monthly figure by tapping 2,46,313 tonnes of Hot Metal. The Steel Melting Shops complemented the effort by producing 3,50,006 tonnes of total crude steel thereby registering the best November figures since inception. The saleable steel production improved in tandem and reached the level of 3,14,361 tonnes – again the highest-ever performance for any November.
The Sinter Plants together produced 6,21,849 tonnes of sinter to achieve their best November output. The single-day sinter production touched an all time high on November 30 at 22,459 tonnes.
Similarly, the Coke Ovens Battery-6 clocked 92.4 pushings per day to outshine its earlier best November oven pushing rate achieved in 2016. The Raw Materials Handling Plant matched the momentum and recorded its best November dispatch.
On November 30, RSP registered the best ever single day production of total saleable steel of 21,354 tonnes.
The performance was boosted with all the major production units surpassing the APP targets for the month of November.
Buoyed by the positive market outlook and riding on the renewed strategies of the company to overcome the humongous challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the RSP collective is leaving no stone unturned to create history.
RSP CEO Dipak Chattaraj visited various units on December 1 to congratulate the employees. Expressing satisfaction over the consistent brilliant performance of the units, he urged the collective to ensure steadier production in the entire chain of units. He also focused on three parameters — Consistency, Quality and Cost — which will lead RSP to greater heights.
