Bhubaneswar, November 19, 2024 (TBB Bureau): The State Level Painting Competition–2024 on Energy Conservation, a flagship initiative by the Union Ministry of Power and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, was successfully conducted on Tuesday at the Institute of Engineers, Bhubaneswar. The event, coordinated by NTPC Eastern Region-II Headquarters, Bhubaneswar, with NTPC as the nodal agency, aimed to foster awareness among students about energy conservation and sustainability.
This year’s competition revolved around two thought-provoking themes: “Protect Nature’s Gifts, Embrace Sustainable Shifts!” and “You Have the Power to Save the Power.”
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across Odisha, with over 34 lakh students from 51,226 schools across all 30 districts of the state taking part in the school-level competitions. From these, 100 students — 50 each from Category A (Classes 5 to 7) and Category B (Classes 8 to 10) — qualified for the state-level competition.
In Category A, the first prize was won by Shreeram Prasad Ankula from JNV School, Gajapati, followed by Amrit Kumar Mohanty from BJEM School, Bhubaneswar, who secured the second prize, and Ayushi Satpathy from Montfort School, Dhenkanal, who took the third prize. In Category B, Ananya Rout from DAV School, Unit 8, Bhubaneswar, claimed the first prize, while the second prize went to Prapti Pratiksha Sahu, also from DAV School, Unit-8, Bhubaneswar, and the third prize was awarded to Nirali Mohanta from St. Xavier’s High School, Dhenkanal.
Arindam Sinha, Regional Executive Director, NTPC (Eastern Region-II), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Saudamini Dash, Joint Director, OSEPA, and Sangram Keshari Pattnayak, Secretary, Odisha State Centre, Institute of Engineers, attended as Guests of Honour. They felicitated the winners and motivated all participants to contribute towards a greener and sustainable future.
The top three winners from both categories will represent Odisha at the National Level Painting Competition–2024, scheduled to be held in New Delhi on December 11, 2024.
This prestigious competition is a significant step towards raising awareness about energy conservation while nurturing creativity and environmental responsibility among young minds. By inspiring students to embrace sustainable practices, the initiative underscores the importance of collective efforts in building a greener future for generations to come.
