Mumbai, November 21, 2024 (TBB Bureau): Tata Power, a pioneer in India’s energy sector, has signed a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to evaluate financing of $4.25 billion for transformative clean energy projects. The agreement, signed during the COP29 Climate Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, marks a significant step toward advancing India’s energy transition and sustainable development goals.
The MoU will support critical projects, including the 966 MW Solar-Wind Hybrid project and Pumped Hydro Storage initiatives, along with other renewable energy and decarbonization efforts. It will also fund capital expenditures to modernize Tata Power’s distribution networks, enhancing efficiency and reliability across its operations.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power, said: “This collaboration with the Asian Development Bank is a pivotal move toward unlocking innovative financing solutions for projects that will redefine India’s power sector. Together, we aim to bolster the nation’s clean energy capacity, fortify its infrastructure, and promote sustainable and inclusive growth. These efforts align with India’s ambitious 500 GW renewable energy target by 2030, ensuring energy security and environmental resilience.”
The projects also prioritize gender inclusivity and climate action, aiming to empower women as key agents in deploying green technologies and accessing green jobs.
