TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, wrapped up its month-long Safety Month Campaign in the first week of April. The initiative, which was launched on National Safety Day and Lineman Diwas, served as a powerful reminder of the company’s unwavering commitment to promoting safety at the workplace and within local communities.

Aligned with the National Safety Council’s 2025 theme – “Safety and Well-being: Crucial for Viksit Bharat” – the campaign focused on raising awareness about essential safety practices across multiple facets of life. It included a series of safety pledges, interactive activities, and engaging competitions that encouraged active participation from both TPCODL employees and their families. Special emphasis was placed on critical safety topics, including home safety, road safety, fire safety, and electrical safety, all integral components of the company’s broader vision for a safer, more secure society.

One of the most exciting highlights of the campaign was the Safety Science Fair, where children of TPCODL employees showcased their creative and innovative ideas aimed at improving safety standards. A standout presentation was a smart traffic system designed to prioritize emergency vehicles, reflecting the young minds’ dedication to fostering safer communities.

The campaign also introduced cutting-edge Virtual Reality (VR)-based safety training modules for high-risk scenarios, a first for TPCODL. These immersive training sessions allowed employees to experience and respond to potentially dangerous situations in a controlled environment. Over 2,000 man-days of safety training were completed during the month, underscoring the company’s dedication to fostering a culture of safety awareness.

The grand finale of the Safety Month Campaign included an array of safety demonstrations, informative science exhibits, and cultural performances by employees’ children, creating an inspiring atmosphere that celebrated both safety and community spirit.

Arvind Singh, CEO of TPCODL, addressed attendees during the closing ceremony, emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining a safe environment. “At TPCODL, safety is a shared responsibility,” Singh said. “By actively involving our employees’ families in this initiative, we aim to strengthen the foundation of a safety-first culture that extends beyond the workplace and into our homes and communities,” he added.

The Safety Month Campaign not only elevated safety awareness among employees but also sparked meaningful conversations around the broader importance of well-being and safety in building a Viksit Bharat.
