Burla, August 12, 2024 (TBB Bureau): In line with TPWODL’s commitment to social responsibility, the company has successfully established an Automated Weather Station (AWS) to benefit the farmers of Baduapalli village in Maneswar block, Sambalpur district.
The new facility, inaugurated on Monday by TPWODL CEO Parveen Verma, aims to support local farmers with precise, real-time weather data to boost agricultural productivity and resilience. Alongside the AWS, a field study focusing on organic farming has been introduced. TPWODL will also offer training sessions to help farmers utilize the data effectively, thereby enhancing their farming strategies.
The AWS features a range of sensors and instruments that monitor and record weather forecasts, humidity levels, temperature trends, and other essential meteorological data. By providing advance weather forecasts, the station enables farmers to make informed decisions, improving productivity, reducing risks, and promoting smart agriculture for over 3,000 farmers involved in the project.
The data from the AWS is analyzed and shared daily with farmers via a WhatsApp group, providing easy access to agri-advisory information. Additionally, a booklet on organic farming practices, along with guidelines on farming diversification and intensification, was launched by the CEO during the event.
This initiative underscores TPWODL’s broader CSR goals of promoting sustainable development and enhancing community well-being.
“We are thrilled to introduce this automated weather station in Baduapalli village, highlighting our continuous commitment to supporting local farmers and advancing sustainable agricultural practices,” said Parveen Verma. “By delivering real-time, actionable weather information, we aim to improve farming efficiency and contribute to the overall prosperity of the farming community,” he added.
