Vedanta Ltd. announced on Saturday that it is on track to achieve 30% women representation in its workforce by 2030. Notably, 28% of the company’s women employees are currently in decision-making roles, marking the highest representation in leadership positions among India’s metals and mining sector.
To bridge the talent gap, Vedanta is actively integrating qualified women into its workforce. The company has introduced progressive policies aligned with its sustainability goals, fostering an inclusive environment that supports professional growth. These initiatives include a ‘no questions asked’ work-from-home policy for women, flexible working hours to accommodate diverse schedules, a year-long sabbatical for childcare, and spouse hiring initiatives to provide family support during career transitions.
In a noteworthy move, Vedanta group firm Hindustan Zinc recently launched the Women of Zinc campaign to attract more women to the metals, mining, and manufacturing sectors. Launched on International Women’s Day 2025, the campaign aims to highlight rewarding career opportunities for women in traditionally male-dominated industries.
Vedanta’s proactive approach reflects its commitment to diversity and inclusion, reinforcing its position as a leader in gender representation within India’s industrial landscape.
