Vedanta Aluminium marked the 54th National Safety Week across its operations with a series of impactful initiatives aimed at reinforcing the culture of safety and well-being. Aligning with this year’s theme – ‘Safety & Well-being Crucial for Viksit Bharat’ – the company conducted extensive engagement programs at its aluminium smelter in Jharsuguda, alumina refinery in Lanjigarh, and mining operations in Odisha, fostering a shared sense of responsibility towards safety among employees, business partners, and the local community.
At Jharsuguda, the celebrations commenced with a flag-hoisting ceremony, followed by an enthusiastic safety rally that witnessed participation from over 780 employees. The unit unveiled its Annual Safety Magazine 2025 and organized several interactive activities, including a live debate on safety topics, the ‘Safety on Wheels’ campaign across plant areas, a safety model exhibition, and a demonstration of personal protective equipment (PPE) by vendors. Additionally, competitions on incident investigations encouraged active learning. The initiative also reached beyond the plant, engaging 427 township residents and schoolchildren through community awareness drives and a vibrant drawing competition, reinforcing Vedanta’s commitment to a proactive safety culture.
At Lanjigarh, the occasion was marked with a safety pledge and flag-hoisting ceremony. The celebrations featured an engaging street play performance, a safety model exhibition by business partners, and emergency preparedness drills. Community awareness sessions, involving over 200 local residents, underscored the importance of safety not just as a workplace value but as an essential way of life.
The Jamkhani Coal Mine also observed the week with a strong focus on employee engagement, hosting poster and quiz competitions, pit safety committee meetings, and specialized electrical safety training. With over 200 participants, the activities reinforced the mine’s dedication to integrating safety into all operational and stakeholder interactions.
