In a major stride towards global sustainability, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has announced the delivery of its first-ever Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Chain of Custody (CoC)-certified aluminium shipment to Capral Aluminium, the leading extruder and distributor of aluminium products in Australia. This landmark delivery positions Vedanta among the select few global producers supplying responsibly sourced aluminium to international markets.
This milestone follows Vedanta Aluminium’s achievement of ASI CoC certification in late 2024, a result of two years of rigorous efforts to align with ASI’s globally recognized standards for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. The certification assures that every step of the aluminium lifecycle—from raw material sourcing to final production—adheres to the highest levels of sustainability, transparency, and ethical conduct.
Highlighting the strategic importance of this supply, Alok Ranjan, Chief Marketing Officer at Vedanta Aluminium, remarked, “Sustainability is at the heart of Vedanta Aluminium’s business philosophy, and achieving ASI CoC certification represents a defining moment in our journey towards responsible aluminium production. Vedanta Aluminium’s ASI CoC certification is part of its broader decarbonization and sustainability strategy.
