New Delhi, August 23, 2024 (TBB Bureau): Vedanta Aluminium, a global leader in aluminium production, on Friday announced the appointment of Fabio Roberto Martins as the CEO of Billets. In this new role, Fabio will spearhead the aluminium billets product group, focusing on maximizing production efficiency and elevating product value. He will be responsible for driving strategic and commercial initiatives, leveraging innovation and advanced technology to support the company’s expansion plans. Vedanta Aluminium aims to increase its billet capacity to 1.2 million tonnes per annum, positioning itself as the world’s largest billet producer.
Fabio Martins
Fabio brings over 26 years of extensive experience from Alcoa, where he held various leadership positions, most recently as Director of Operations. His deep expertise in operational management and strategic planning is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening Vedanta Aluminium’s billets product category.

Aluminium billets, which are solid, cylindrical shapes produced through casting, serve as raw material for various manufacturing processes. With a billet casting capacity of 580 kilotonnes per annum, Vedanta Aluminium is India’s largest producer and exporter of high-quality aluminium billets. This product group is of strategic importance to the company, supporting downstream manufacturers and extruders in sectors such as automotive, building, construction, and energy.
As part of their offerings, Vedanta Aluminium also produces High-Speed Billets, which are known for their exceptional extrusion speed without compromising the strength of the extruded profile. This is achieved through superior metallurgical properties brought about by stringent process control and optimized chemistry.
