On the occasion of Odisha Divas or Utkal Divas , Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Odisha, celebrating the state’s rich cultural heritage, vibrant traditions, and remarkable developmental achievements.
In a message that resonated with pride and admiration, Agarwal highlighted Odisha’s unique identity, shaped by its spiritual depth, traditional arts, diverse cuisine, and stunning landscapes. “Odisha stands as a beacon of India’s cultural richness and global relevance. The dedication and talent of its people have significantly contributed to strengthening India’s presence on the world stage,” he said.
Agarwal emphasized Vedanta’s deep-rooted connection with the state, calling Odisha the ‘Aluminium Capital of the World.’ He said, “Odisha’s vast natural resources — both above and below the surface — have propelled it to a prominent position globally. We are proud to have invested over Rs. 1 lakh crore here, with a commitment that goes beyond business. Our focus is on the well-being of local communities and fostering sustainable growth.”
Reflecting on Vedanta’s transformative community initiatives, Agarwal expressed pride in the company’s contributions to Kalahandi. “It fills me with great pride that we have fulfilled the dream of bringing prosperity to Kalahandi, where every home has experienced positive change,” he shared.
Looking ahead, Agarwal conveyed optimism for Odisha’s future. “With the blessings of Lord Jagannath and the dynamic leadership of Odisha’s Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the state’s growth will continue to soar to new heights,” he added.
Vedanta Aluminium plays a pivotal role in Odisha’s industrial landscape, operating a 3.5 MTPA alumina refinery in Lanjigarh and one of the largest aluminium smelters globally in Jharsuguda. The company has committed over Rs. 25,000 crore in new investments to expand operations, generate employment, and drive infrastructure and technological advancements.
In line with its vision for inclusive development, Vedanta actively supports initiatives in education, skill development, healthcare access, and environmental sustainability, reaffirming its commitment to Odisha’s long-term socio-economic growth.
