Bhubaneswar, November 21, 2024 (TBB Bureau): In a remarkable effort to foster the health and well-being of children in Odisha’s underserved regions, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has expanded its pioneering “Swarna Prashan” initiative. This initiative has already benefited over 6,400 students from 15 government schools across Rayagada and Kalahandi districts, reinforcing Vedanta’s commitment to holistic community development.
Speaking about the program’s impact, Vedanta Aluminium COO, Sunil Gupta, said, “Through our collaboration with the Government of Odisha and the Ministry of AYUSH, we aim to bring the proven benefits of Ayurvedic practices to children in remote areas. Strengthening the health of young minds and bodies is key to nurturing vibrant communities, and we are proud of the transformative outcomes achieved through this initiative.”
The program, launched in September 2024 in partnership with the AYUSH Ministry, has so far touched the lives of over 10,600 students across Odisha. At the heart of this initiative lies the administration of Swarna Prashan, an ancient Ayurvedic formulation made with gold particles, honey, and ghee, known for its immunity-boosting, cognitive-enhancing, and overall developmental benefits for children.
Highlighting the expansion plans, Nitin Kumar Tiwari, CEO of Vedanta’s Bauxite Mines, shared, “The Swarna Prashan initiative has already reached 25 government schools and is being embraced by communities with great enthusiasm. With plans to extend this program to Koraput, we are on track to impact over 30,000 children by the end of the year.”
The recent key event at GCD Zilla Girls’ High School in Rayagada witnessed active participation from local leaders, including District Education Officer Basant Kumar Nayak, Additional DEO Bhajan Lal Majhi, and Block Education Officer Sudipta Kumar Das. Ayurvedic expert VJP Rao and health advocate Atal Bihari Guru also emphasized the program’s value.
DEO Nayak lauded Vedanta’s efforts, stating, “Swarna Prashan has immense potential to enhance immunity and cognitive abilities in children. Bringing such impactful interventions to remote areas is truly commendable and reflects Vedanta Aluminium’s commitment to the region’s development.”
With its focus on integrating traditional wisdom into modern health practices, Vedanta Aluminium continues to set benchmarks in community welfare. The initiative not only addresses immediate health challenges but also aims to build a brighter future for children in Odisha’s tribal heartlands.
As Vedanta prepares to scale the Swarna Prashan initiative further, it is poised to leave a lasting legacy of healthier, happier, and empowered generations.
