Search for future stars begins in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, November 3, 2024 (TBB Bureau): The Yuvraj Singh Centre of Excellence (YSCE), in collaboration with Club Pavilion, the sports vertical of Merlin Group, has officially announced an exciting cricket talent hunt across Eastern India. This groundbreaking initiative, aimed at discovering and nurturing young cricket talent, will launch its first round of trials in Bhubaneswar on November 9, 2024, and will extend to other major cities including Patna, Siliguri, and Kolkata.
Set to take place at BJB High School Ground in Khurda, Bhubaneswar, the Odisha leg of the talent hunt promises to be a gateway for young, passionate cricketers. The trial will be conducted by BCCI-certified coaches, including Vishal Bhatia (Level 1 Certified Coach) and Satyendra Singh (Level 2 Certified Coach). Participants from Odisha and beyond will have a unique opportunity to showcase their skills for a chance to earn a coveted spot in YSCE’s Advanced Training Program, hosted at Merlin Rise, Club Pavilion in Kolkata. Those selected will receive full scholarships to this prestigious program, making elite cricket training accessible to deserving players regardless of their financial background.
Yuvraj Singh, the cricket legend behind YSCE, expressed his excitement about discovering new talent in the region. “Cricket is a cherished sport across India, especially in East India, where we’ve seen incredible players emerge. This talent hunt is about giving young cricketers from these areas a platform to showcase their skills and chase their dreams. At YSCE, we’re committed to equipping them with world-class training to elevate their game. I can’t wait to see the talent that Eastern India has to offer,” Singh said.
Saket Mohta, Managing Director of Merlin Group, also shared his enthusiasm for this initiative. “Our collaboration with YSCE led to the creation of Eastern India’s first cricket academy, driven by the expertise of Yuvraj Singh himself, at Merlin Rise in Kolkata. Odisha has a rich cricket culture, and we’re thrilled to hold this camp in Bhubaneswar. At Merlin Rise, we have developed top-notch cricket facilities that will help promising players grow under the expert mentorship of Yuvraj and his team,” Mohta said.
The talent hunt will unfold over the following schedule:

- Patna: 16th November 2024
- Siliguri: 17th November 2024
- Kolkata: 23rd November 2024
