KIIT, KISS & KIMS celebrate International Women’s Day

KIIT, KISS, and KIMS joined hands to celebrate International Women’s Day, reaffirming their commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT and KISS, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the invaluable contributions of women. He emphasized that KIIT’s growth has been driven by a culture of respect and equal opportunities. “What we preach, we practice. We have been championing women’s empowerment since the inception of KIIT,” he stated. Dr. Samanta also highlighted how women have risen to prominent leadership roles within KIIT, making it a model institution for inclusivity and equal opportunity.

Women constitute over 50% of the staff at KIIT and KISS, a ratio mirrored among the student population. Women employees spoke about the strong bond they share with KIIT, attributing it to the institution’s nurturing environment that fosters both personal and professional growth. Many expressed that KIIT’s emphasis on security and opportunity has allowed them to thrive.

As part of the celebrations, the Centre for Women’s Studies at KISS dedicated the day to empowering young women through sports, focusing on the theme “Empowering Young Women through Sports: Towards Building a Healthy Nation.” The initiative underscored the role of sports in promoting resilience, leadership, and overall well-being among women.

The event was attended by Prof. Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor of KIIT Deemed to be University; Prof. Debasish Bandopadhyay, Vice Chancellor of KISS DU; and Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar of KIIT DU.
