Bhubaneswar, November 14, 2024 (TBB Bureau): In a heartfelt gesture, the KISS Foundation has stepped forward to support two young children from Mandipanka village in Daringbadi block, Kandhamal district, who tragically lost their mother, Rumita Pattamajhi, after she reportedly consumed mango kernel. Left without a mother, her two children — a two-and-a-half-year-old son and a six-month-old daughter — now face an uncertain future. Upon learning about their plight through media reports, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, founder of KIIT, KISS, and the KISS Foundation, has committed to supporting the family in this difficult time.
Dr. Samanta quickly arranged an immediate cash assistance of Rs. 3,000 for Rumita’s husband, Anil, to help with their immediate needs. This financial support will continue until the children reach the age of five, with funds being deposited in a bank account to ensure sustainability and ease of access.
Once the children turn five, the KISS Foundation will extend further support by offering them free education at KISS. In addition to schooling, Dr. Samanta pledged to nurture the aspirations of Rumita, who had named her son A.R. Rahman, dreaming he might one day become a successful singer. The KISS Foundation is committed to helping him pursue this dream, ensuring access to quality education, higher studies, and employment opportunities upon completion.
Several children from Mandipanka village are currently studying at KISS, and Dr. Samanta has invited other children from the village to join in the upcoming academic session, should they wish to pursue their education at KISS.
