Bhubaneswar, August 10, 2024 (TBB Bureau): In a significant effort to enhance emergency response skills, the Sanjeevan Health Centre at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar, in collaboration with KAABEEL Simulation & Skill Upgradation Centre of KIMS Hospital, organized a workshop on Basic Life Support (BLS) with a focus on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on Saturday.
The workshop aimed to equip students, residents, and security personnel with critical lifesaving skills. The session addressed the importance of CPR in cases of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA), where survival rates can drastically improve with timely intervention. Participants learned how to perform high-quality CPR and manage choking incidents, guided by certified instructors from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Dr. Ashok Kumar Badamali, Senior Consultant Cardiac Anaesthesia at KIMS, and his team, along with Debasish Mohanty, DGM Marketing at KIMS, led the hands-on training. IIT Bhubaneswar’s Dr. SR Dash, Professor-in-Charge of Healthcare, NSS Coordinator Dr. Sivaiah Bathula, and Senior Medical Officer Dr. MA Khan, along with their teams, were also present.
With approximately 250 attendees benefiting from this training, the workshop underscored the crucial role of immediate CPR in improving survival outcomes for cardiac arrest victims, particularly in high-density and high-traffic areas.
