The eighth edition of the International Yoga Day on the theme “Yoga for Humanity” will be organized in India and across the globe on Tuesday with a focus on how yoga is serving humanity. At 29 percent, India has the second-highest number of employees dealing with corporate burnout. Nearly one third of employees in India have experienced symptoms of burnout. The WHO has estimated India’s economic loss due to mental health to be $1.03 trillion (Rs 75.84 lakh crore approximately) between 2012 and 2030, part of which was worsened by the COVID pandemic.
When much of the world was seeking mental healthcare, Ishan Shivanand performed research among nearly 10,000 participants from diverse backgrounds. The research, performed in collaboration with medical institutions in the US – University of Cincinnati, John Hopkins University School of Medicine helped study and quantify the impact of a non-pharmaceutical intervention and yogic protocols presented through digital platforms.
The study found 82 percent Reduction & Normalization of sleep patterns; 77 percent Improvement in quality of life; 72 percent Reduction in depression symptoms; and 75 percent Decrease in generalized Anxiety.
