New Delhi, November 9, 2024 (TBB Bureau): “The Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW) remains dedicated to creating efficient, eco-friendly spaces that support sustainable practices benefiting both our communities and environment,” said Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to fostering a cleaner and more sustainable work environment.
His statement followed the successful completion of Special Campaign 4.0, conducted from October 2 to October 31, 2024, aimed at institutionalizing “Swachhta” (cleanliness) and reducing pendency throughout the Ministry and its various organizations.
The campaign’s accomplishments were significant. An extensive review of 1.29 lakh files led to the disposal of 1.01 lakh outdated files, liberating approximately 68,916 square feet of office space. This reorganization effort not only streamlined operations but also generated Rs. 4.62 crore from scrap disposal. The Ministry also held 369 cleanliness drives and simplified 13 operational rules, advancing efficiency and workflow within its establishments.
Minister Sonowal also commended the introduction of innovative initiatives under Special Campaign 4.0, including waste-to-art projects and beach clean-ups. “Through these efforts,” he added, “we are not only supporting Swachh Bharat but also championing a greener, more responsible future for all.”
The Ministry’s achievements in cleanliness and efficiency underscore its ongoing mission to build a more sustainable and effective administrative environment, setting a precedent in public sector commitment to green practices and operational excellence.
