MoPSW to drive holistic development in maritime sector under Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047: Sarbananda Sonowal

New Delhi, June 11, 2024 (TBB Bureau): Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, newly appointed to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW), affirmed his commitment to advancing the maritime sector’s development in alignment with the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.

Taking charge on Monday in New Delhi, Minister Sonowal addressed office bearers and staff, instilling confidence in the team to meet the ministry’s goals with a service-oriented approach. He emphasized the ministry’s role in the broader mission of transforming India into a Viksit Bharat (developed India).

Sonowal lauded the efforts made under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, highlighting significant progress in empowering the maritime sector. “Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways has undertaken tremendous work to empower the maritime sector and ensure its holistic development in our endeavour to become an economic powerhouse. We will continue to commit ourselves to nation-building with a ‘Nation First’ mindset as we strive to achieve the ultimate goal of Viksit Bharat,” he stated.

Reiterating the ministry’s dedication, Sonowal underlined the importance of sustainable and inclusive growth. He called on his team to persist in their diligent work towards this vision, ensuring that the maritime sector contributes significantly to India’s economic aspirations.

With the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 as a guiding framework, Sonowal pledged continued efforts to enhance infrastructure, improve operational efficiency, and foster innovation within the maritime sector.
