Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met with US Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Suzanne Clark on Thursday to discuss the expanding business ties between India and the United States. The meeting, held in New Delhi, also included Atul Keshap, President of the US-India Business Council (USIBC).
During the discussions, Sitharaman expressed India’s appreciation for the deepening economic collaboration between Indian and American enterprises. She underscored how increasing investments, innovation, and trade between the two nations are fostering economic growth and mutual prosperity.
In a post on social media platform X, the Finance Ministry shared details of the meeting, stating: “Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Smt @nsitharaman met Ms @SuzanneUSCC, President and CEO, US Chamber of Commerce @USChamber, in New Delhi today, along with Mr Atul Keshap, President, @USIBC at @USChamber.”
Clark commended India’s ongoing economic reforms, particularly in the area of foreign direct investment (FDI), which have attracted growing interest from American businesses seeking to expand their presence in India. She highlighted how these policy changes are enabling a more conducive business environment and strengthening cross-border investments.
According to the Finance Ministry, Clark also emphasized the role of entrepreneurship and cross-border trade in further bolstering the US-India economic partnership. The discussions reaffirmed the commitment of both nations to deepening economic cooperation and unlocking new trade and investment opportunities.
The meeting comes at a time when both India and the US are focused on strengthening strategic and economic ties, with an emphasis on facilitating business expansion, fostering innovation, and driving sustainable growth.
