The 53rd National Safety Week, hosted by the Paradip Port Authority (PPA), drew to a close today with a resounding focus on “Safety Leadership for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Excellence.”
PPA Chairman PL Haranadh ceremoniously lowered the National Safety Week Flag at Gate No. 4, marking the conclusion of the week-long event.
Among the distinguished attendees were Deputy Chairman Nilabhra Dasgupta, Additional Assistant Director of Inspectorate Dock Safety Soma Sekhar Bajaramath, heads of departments, PPA officials, and stakeholders.
In his address, Chief Guest Haranadh underscored the imperative of fostering a robust safety culture to avert accidents, emphasizing strict adherence to safety protocols. He underscored the necessity for hands-on training to bolster awareness about safety measures.
Significant advancements were showcased during the event, including the development of 23-km wide arterial concrete roads within the harbor area and the trial implementation of a mechanized road sweeping machine, a pioneering initiative among Major Ports. Furthermore, efforts to enhance lighting within the colony area are underway, slated for completion within the next two months. Haranadh expressed optimism that, akin to previous years, the current year would witness a minimal number of accidents within the Port’s operational domain.
Guest of Honor Nilabhra Dasgupta urged every employee to champion the ethos of safety within the organization.
Soma Sekhar Bajaramath, in his address, stressed the importance of ingraining safety as a voluntary culture rather than a mere mandate, underlining its significance for individuals and organizations alike.
The event also featured the felicitation of winners from various competitions, including safety essay, debate, and poster contests, held as part of the National Safety Week.
Captain AC Sahoo, In-charge Chief Mechanical Engineer, extended a warm welcome to all stakeholders, urging collective prioritization of safety.
Concluding the event, PPA Safety Officer PK Kar delivered a vote of thanks, emphasizing the collaborative efforts required to sustain and enhance safety standards within the Paradip Port community.
