BHUBANESWAR, JUNE 21, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): The 10th International Day of Yoga was celebrated on Friday at AIIMS Bhubaneswar under the theme “Yoga for Self and Society,” emphasizing its role in enhancing individual and societal well-being.
Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, highlighted yoga’s dual benefits and its outreach in rural areas, aiming to foster global health and wellness. He underscored yoga’s positive impact on youth, promoting widespread participation in this ancient practice.
The celebration, held at Director’s Lawn, was organized by the AYUSH department in collaboration with the NSS Unit of AIIMS Bhubaneswar. The event featured a special yoga session attended by DEAN Dr. PR Mohapatra, Medical Superintendent (I/c) Dr. Dillip Kumar Parida, DDA Lt. Col. Abhijeet Sarkar, and HOD/AYUSH & SMO Dr. Prasanta Kumar Sahoo. Faculty members, along with MBBS, Nursing, and Para-medical students, officers, employees, and the public joined in the yoga session. Yoga Instructor Santosh Kumar Sahu led the practice, with Dr. Ajit Kumar Pradhan delivering the vote of thanks.
To commemorate the occasion, yoga sessions were also conducted earlier at CHC, Tangi and the OPD foyer of AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
Notably, AIIMS Bhubaneswar continues to promote AYUSH practices and has initiated workplace yoga programs to alleviate stress and improve productivity.
