AIIMS Bhubaneswar’s Paediatric Department bags ReTHINK INDIA Aarogya Bhushan Award

BHUBANESWAR, JULY 1, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): The Paediatric Pulmonology and ICU Team from the Paediatrics Department of AIIMS Bhubaneswar has been honoured with the esteemed Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar Aarogya Bhushan Award by ReTHINK INDIA.

Prof. (Dr.) Rashmi Ranjan Das and Additional Prof. Dr. Krishna Mohan Gulla received the award on behalf of the department at a special ceremony held at the India International Centre, New Delhi.

AIIMS Bhubaneswar Executive Director Dr. Ashutosh Biswas congratulated the team for their outstanding achievement and encouraged them to continue their innovative procedures.

The award recognizes the team’s pioneering bronchoscopic intervention. Using a minimally invasive flexible bronchoscopy, they successfully extracted a 4 cm long stitching needle from the left lower lobe bronchus lateral segment of a 9-year-old child on January 22, 2024. This intervention spared the boy from undergoing major lung surgery to remove the sharp foreign object.

The Paediatric Department at AIIMS Bhubaneswar has been instrumental in delivering advanced paediatric services to the state and neighbouring regions, contributing significantly to national excellence in healthcare.

ReTHINK India is an action and advocacy platform led by a dedicated group of AIIMSonians and IITians committed to promoting overall national excellence.
