Bahuda Yatra celebrates spiritual journey in Jindal Nagar

ANGUL, JULY 15, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): The air in Jindal Nagar and its surrounding villages was filled with a deep sense of spiritual fervor as thousands of devotees came together to celebrate the Bahuda Yatra festival at Devbhoomi. This auspicious occasion marked the return journey of the revered deities – Mahaprabhu Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra, and Mahaprabhu Jagannath along with Lord Sudarshan from the Gundicha Temple to their sacred abode at Jagannath Temple in Devbhoomi, Jindal Nagar, Angul.

Naveen Jindal, three-time Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) representing Kurukshetra Constituency and Chairman of Jindal Steel & Power (JSP), along with his wife Shallu Jindal, Chairperson of JSP Foundation, enthusiastically participated in the Bahuda Yatra. They engaged in the sacred ‘Pahandi Vidhi’ and performed the Chherapanhara ritual, symbolically purifying the majestic chariots before their return journey to the main temple of Lord Jagannath.

The day-long rituals commenced at 5 am with Mangal Aarati, followed by Mailam, Tadap Lagi, and Abakash Neeti among other divine ceremonies, all meticulously overseen by the Chief Priest of the temple, Srikant Ji.

Local communities from Jindal Nagar and neighboring areas joined hands in pulling the chariots with immense devotion and zeal, making the Bahuda Yatra a deeply spiritual and communal event.

The deities will grace their chariots for the next four days, celebrating Harisayan Ekadashi and Sunabesha on Wednesday, followed by Adharpana on Thursday, leading up to the much-awaited Neeladri Bije on Friday, when they will return to their Ratna Singhashan in Jagannath Temple.
