Coal Miners are playing an important role in strengthening the economy and development of the country, said Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) Chairman-cum-Managing Director OP Singh on the occasion of May Day that the company celebrates as Miners Day.
Addressing a colourful programme at Belpahar in Jharsuguda last evening, Singh said coal miners are the drivers of energy security in the country.
The MCL CMD said, “It is the 24×7 tireless efforts of coal miners despite scorching sun or inclement weather that makes people sleep comfortably at their homes.”
On growing demand of coal to meet the electricity requirements of the nation, Singh said, “The country has high expectations from MCL; and I am confident that Team MCL will again set new performance records and successfully meet the growing coal demand.”
Prominent among others present on the occasion included Director (Finance) KR Vasudevan, Director (Personnel) Keshav Rao, and CVO PK Patel.
Besides, OCMS President KC Patel, OCMLF Secretary Shankar Behera, BCMWU President AK Dash, ABKMS Vice-President AK Pradhan, and CMOAI General Secretary AP Shukla also participated in the corporate level celebrations.
During the celebration, hosted by Lakhanpur Area of MCL, the employees with outstanding performance were also awarded.
