Dalmia Cement observes World Ozone Day

On the occasion of the World Ozone Day on Thursday, Dalmia Cement (India) Limited in association with the Regional Office of Odisha State Pollution Control Board Rourkela (SPCB) organised an awareness programme related to ozone layer protection, and mass tree plantation in Dalmia Vidya Mandir premises, here.

SPCB Environmental Engineer Babita Singh graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Dalmia Cement Rajgangpur factory Head Chetan Shrivastav, DGM (Environment) Suresh Kumar Mohapatra and Dalmia Vidya Mandir Principal Raghavendra Dwivedi were the guests of honour.

To mark the occasion, a debate competition was organized for the students of Dalmia Vidya Mandir on this year’s World Ozone Day theme – “Montreal Protocol – Keeping us, our food and vaccines cool.”

Addressing the students and teachers, chief guest Singh Singh urged everyone to take concrete steps for the protection of ozone layer. She suggested spreading awareness about the depletion in the Ozone layer and finding possible solutions to preserve it.

Speaking about the responsibility of the individual in maintaining a healthy environment, Shrivastav emphasized that we should pay attention towards environmental issues and have to make some changes in our lifestyle and day to day activities for the protection of the ozone layer in the environment. Awareness on ozone layer protection should start from every individual and every house, he said.

The guests gave away prizes to the winners of the  debate competition.

Teachers and students of Dalmia Vidya Mandir, Prakash Kumar Mohanty and Satyajit Acharya of the Corporate Affairs Department, and Bhabgrahi Patra of the Environment Department of the Dalmia Cement (India) Limited Rajgangpur plant extended support in making this program a grand success.
