With an objective to drive awareness on environment protection, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited Rajgangpur observed the World Environment Day with a series of initiatives including plantation drive, cycle rally, drawing competitions among school children, etc.
The day-long program started with a Mini Cyclothon under the “Adopt Healthy Lifestyle” banner which witnessed participation of 70 employees of the company. The cyclothon was flagged off from Bir Birsa Playground and culminated at Rajgangpur Club completing a round of the entire township.
Other activities like drawing competitions among school children are held at Dalmia Vidya Mandir (DVM) Rajgangpur and Lanjiberna Mines Colony.
Plantation, inauguration of drinking water facility and prize distribution at Lanjiberna Mines, cloth bag distribution and plantation program as a part of clean drive initiative by Paryavaran Rakshaks were also organised at Rajgangpur Railway Station.
Under the “Save Energy” initiative, a solar panel was inaugurated to convert DVM school into a solar school. Artificial Garden Completion on 3R concept was done by the members of Sangam Mahila Mandal and the event ended up with Zero Light Hour Celebration with Mobile Flash light.
The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of the company also celebrated World Environment Day with various activities including a 2 Km Bicycle Rally by 40 SHG members and students of nearby villages which was flagged off from Bihabandh Village and culminated at Gyanpali Panchayat Office. A padayatra was also organised by 120 SHG members of four villages namely Gyanpali, Domposh, Bheluadihi and Gundipada which started from Gyanpali village and ended at Gyanpali Panchayat office. During the occasion, Omprakash Khelkar AED Lanjiberna Mines, Saroj Shrivastav President Jagruti Mahila Mandal, Pushpa Kerketta Sarpanch Katang GP, Kamala Kujur Sarpanch Gyanpali and Subash Chandra Rana Executive Officer Gyanpali GP graced the occasion.
The World Environment Day celebrations kicked off with planting of fruit bearing plant saplings by the guests around panchayat office premises followed by distribution of 500 fruit bearing saplings like Mango, Lichi, Sapeta and Lemon among the community of Gyanpali Gram Panchayat. After plantation the guests visited the display room and selected the best environment drawings made by the children and SHG members of surrounding villages. During the event, 5 farmers were also felicitated by the guests for best WADI farmers.
Dalmia Cement, Rajgangpur Team R&R also celebrated World Environment Day at Katang R&R Colony where Chetan Shrivastav Executive Director DCBL and Unit Head-Rajgangpur graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Omprakash Khelkar AED Lanjiberna Mines, Biswajit Samantaray General Manager (Head-Civil) and Pushpa Kerketta, Sarpanch were also present as guests.
The event started with the inauguration of a handmade fountain which was prepared by adopting the concept of Save Water, Save Earth, Save Environment by planting a tree. The guests then planted fruit bearing plants in R&R Colony premises which was followed by a science exhibition with the theme “Beat plastic Save Environment” as prepared by the students of class 6-12 from the surrounding villages. Around 320 fruit bearing saplings like Lichi, Mango,Guava and pomegranate were planted in R&R Colony by the team. More than 100 women construction workers at site were felicitated by the guests for their contribution towards greenery of the R&R Colony and Rangoli competition among them. Guests also appreciated the construction partners for their valuable contribution in making R&R Colony through eco-friendly products.
Participating in the plantation drive, threw light on the benefits of trees and environmental protection and also encouraged people to plant trees. He further said that Dalmia Cement has always been serious about the protection of the environment, for which the plant is paying attention to all kinds of measures.
