BHUBANESWAR, JUNE 20, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister, Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo, has been designated to participate in the upcoming pre-Budget and GST Council meetings organised by the Union Finance Ministry in New Delhi.
According to a press release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Thursday, the Central government’s Finance Ministry will convene a gathering of finance ministers from all States and Union Territories at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, on June 22. During these sessions, state ministers will present their recommendations for inclusion in the Union Budget, which will be presented by the Finance Minister in Parliament. Additionally, the ministers will also engage in discussions at the GST Council meeting.
Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, who also holds the Finance portfolio, expressed regret for his inability to attend the meeting due to prior commitments. Consequently, Deputy Chief Minister Singhdeo will represent the state government at these crucial meetings, as stated in the release.
