ECoR 1st to hit 100 MT freight loading target in FY2021-22

East Coast Railway (ECoR) has earned the distinction of becoming the first railway to achieve 100 MT freight loading in the current financial year. ECoR loaded 100.30 MT of freight during April 1-September 10, 2021 period as against 77.58 MT carried in the corresponding period in the previous fiscal, registering a growth of 29.3 percent.
It has also surpassed the loading target 95.09 MT fixed by the Railway Board during the period.
During the period under review, ECoR loaded 55.28 MT of coal, 3.66 MT of raw material for steel plants, 9.62 MT of iron & steel, 14.26 MT of iron ore, 0.57 MT of cement, 1.41 MT of food grains, 2.43 MT of fertilizer, 1.07 MT of POL, 1.87 MT of freight loaded in containers and 10.14 MT of other cargo.
The feat could be achieved due to outstanding performances of Khurda Road, Waltair and Sambalpur Divisions of ECoR.
While 67.19 MT of freight was carried from Khurda Road Division, 28.24 MT was from Waltair Division and 4.83 MT from Sambalpur Division.
In the first 10 days of September, 2021, ECoR carried 6.01 MT of freight as against 5.30 MT carried in corresponding period in the year 2020, registering an increase of 13.3 percent more freight.
Major contributors of freight included Talcher, Paradip, Dhamara, Visakhapatnam, Gangavaram, Keonjhar, KK Line, steel plants, aluminium plants and from other places under ECoR jurisdiction.
