Hindalco Industries Ltd, the metal flagship of Aditya Birla Group, has started the “Healthcare on Wheels” service in association with the Sambalpur District Administration in the adjacent villages of Hirakud in Sambalpur district with the objective of providing healthcare services at the doorstep of people.
The MHU (Mobile Health Unit) of the company is visiting Gundurupada, Mahhamadpur, Dengimacha, Budhakanta, Larbhanga, Gadamunda, Nua Jamda, Nua Gujatala, Larpank, Remed, Gopalapalli, and other villages regularly and rendering services to the people of these villages.
Through this service, the villagers are being provided free healthcare consultation and free medicines for normal flu, fever, cough, dehydration and other general diseases. This apart, Covid sensitization programmes are also being carried out by the company in these villages.
Hindalco Hirakud Cluster Head, Kailash Pandey who oversees the execution of this service, says: “There are many people who take the common flu, fever and other diseases lightly, as a result of which the minor ailments get fatal. To cater to this issue, we have started this initiative of taking the healthcare to their doorsteps and address them.” “As a responsible corporate citizen, we are taking several initiatives in providing better healthcare to people and this is one of them,” he adds.
The “Healthcare on Wheels” service is being coordinated and executed by the CSR team under the direct supervision of Krishna Padhi, the HR Head of company. The initiative of Hindalco Industries Ltd has received encomiums from all sections of people of the region including the intelligentsia.
Being driven by the constant motivation to give back to society, Hindalco at Hirakud has taken many initiatives in the areas of healthcare, education, sustainable livelihood, infra structure development and women empowerment to provide a better quality of life to the people of the region.
