Jindal Stainless Limited marked the International Day of Forests on Thursday with a series of impactful initiatives focused on promoting environmental consciousness and preserving biodiversity at its Jajpur plant.
Central to the celebration was a sapling distribution program, where a variety of fruit-bearing trees including mango, jamun, bel, guava, and lemon were distributed among local community members. This initiative not only aims to bolster green cover but also provides sustainable resources to the community, fostering a harmonious relationship with nature.
To further underscore their commitment to environmental stewardship, the company organized a plantation drive within the plant premises. Employees enthusiastically participated in raising awareness about the importance of afforestation, with senior leadership leading by example and urging everyone to contribute to the noble cause by planting a tree.
In addition to these ground-level activities, a webinar titled “Understanding Biodiversity and Its Relevance” was conducted. Sameer Deshpande, an Advisor at Econsus Environmental Solutions LLP in Nagpur and a recognized greenbelt expert by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, delivered an insightful talk on this year’s theme, “Forests & Innovation.” Deshpande shed light on the critical role of forests in fostering innovation and sustainable development.
