BHUBANESWAR, JUN 20, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): Reliance Jio has solidified its position as the leading digital service provider in Odisha, with substantial new customer additions across both wireless and wireline segments. According to the latest telecom subscription data released by TRAI, Reliance Jio added an impressive 1.13 lakh new mobile subscribers in Odisha during April 2024, while its closest competitor, Airtel, added just 8954 subscribers. Meanwhile, both VI and BSNL reported a decline in their mobile subscriber base for the same period.
The total number of mobile subscribers on the Jio network in Odisha has now surpassed 1.53 crore as of April 30, 2024.
Nationwide, Jio continued its growth trajectory by adding over 26.87 lakh subscribers in April, bringing its total mobile subscriber base on the pan-India network to over 47.24 crore, further cementing its position as the leading digital service provider in the country.
Reliance Jio commands a dominant position in Odisha with over 45 per cent market share among subscribers and 52 per cent revenue market share in the industry. The rapid increase in Jio’s subscriber base in the state can be attributed to its extensive 4G and 5G network coverage, aggressive expansion into previously underserved areas, and the popularity of its budget-friendly JioBharat 4G phone priced at just Rs. 999. This device offers access to premium applications such as JioSaavn, JioCinema, JioTV, and UPI payment facilities.
Jio has also significantly expanded its JioAirFiber service, an integrated solution offering advanced home entertainment, smart home services, and high-speed broadband. Available in over 250 towns and numerous villages across Odisha, JioAirFiber has bridged the gap for TV and broadband users seeking upgraded digital experiences. Overcoming challenges related to last-mile connectivity, JioAirFiber has become a reliable high-speed broadband provider, connecting homes and small businesses that previously lacked access to quality broadband and home entertainment.
