Jugal Kumar Borah has assumed the charge as the Director (Technical/Projects & Planning) of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a Coal India Limited subsidiary.
Prior to his new assignment, Borah was posted at Coal India Limited headquarters, Kolkata as General Manager (Production).
Immediately after assuming charge, Borah visited the coalfields under MCL and reviewed the mining operations at different projects.
Having 35 years of rich experience in the underground as well as opencast projects, Borah has served at important positions in the North East Coalfields (NEC) and Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), Dhanbad.
Resident of Nagaon district in Assam, Borah has got Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mining) from NIT Nagpur. He also obtained a competency certificate in Coal Mine Safety from JICA, Japan; and Diploma in Project Management from George Washington University, USA.
