JSP Angul observes 53rd National Safety Week; reiterates commitment to ‘Zero Harm’ policy

The Angul unit of Jindal Steel and Power (JSP) brought the curtains down on the 53rd National Safety Week, reaffirming its steadfast dedication to the ‘Zero Harm’ ethos. Spanning from March 4 to 12, the week-long observance witnessed fervent engagement from both employees and stakeholders alike.

Assistant Director of Factories & Boilers (ADFB), Manoj Mishra, graced the final day as the Chief Guest, shedding light on opportunities for improvement towards achieving Zero Harm through proactive safety measures and robust risk management protocols.

Pankaj Malhan, JSP’s Angul location head and Executive Director in charge, spearheaded the participants in taking the Safety Oath, underscoring the collective commitment to safety. The JSP Safety team meticulously presented the Safety Report card for the year, delineating key initiatives and charting the course forward in the pursuit of Zero Harm. Malhan, emphasizing safety as paramount, implored all present to embrace a comprehensive 360-degree approach to identify and mitigate risks effectively.

Executive Director of Iron & Raw Materials, Damodar Mittal, underscored the critical importance of adhering to safety protocols, particularly in tasks involving elevated heights and road operations. He stressed discipline and caution as fundamental pillars of safety.

Atul Dubey, President of Steel Making, and Shankar, EVP, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the intrinsic link between safety and collective responsibility, advocating for immediate cessation of work upon encountering unsafe acts or conditions.

Adding depth to the program, business partners contributed their safety messages through slogans and songs, amplifying the safety narrative.

The event reached its crescendo with the acknowledgment and felicitation of winners from diverse competitions, encompassing Safety Talk, Slogan, Poster, Hazard Hunt, and Safety Quiz. The enthusiastic participation of employees, their families, and schoolchildren in these competitions underscored the unified commitment to championing safety within the organization.
