Jindal Steel and Power (JSP) observed the 17th Punya tithi (death anniversary) of its founder Om Prakash Jindal, fondly called Bauji, at the pellet plant premises here on Thursday. A series of programs were organized at the pellet plant, Kasia Mine, and Tensa Mine to commemorate the day.
Barbil business unit head Brij Badhadra along with other department heads, colleagues, and employees paid floral tribute to the great soul.
Remembering the founder of OP Jindal Group, Badhadra said, “For all of us and the time to come, Shri Om Prakash Jindal Ji will always be a role model as a successful industrialist. His focus on nation-building through industrialization and the skill development of youth will always be remembered. As a pioneer in the steel industry, he made this country proud with his vision and entrepreneurship”.
Earlier in the morning, puja and havan were conducted at Kasia and pellet plant premises to mark the occasion. Later, the Bhagavad Geeta recital program was also organized in the Jindal Nagar Township and Tensa with the participation of employees and their family members.
Besides, nearly 1800 school bags were distributed among students of nearby schools. Cooked food was also served among the inmates of the School for Blind and Deaf at Keonjhar. A voluntary blood donation camp was organized at Tensa and Jindal Nagar Colony in which 110 units of blood were collected.
OP Jindal is not only known as a business leader and industrialist of India but also is known for his social service activities. He was serving as a Minister in the Government of Haryana at the time of his death. He was also a Member of Parliament in the 11th Lok Sabha.
