Angul, June 27, 2024 (TBB Bureau): In a significant step towards eliminating tuberculosis (TB) in India, JSP Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Jindal Steel & Power, has been officially registered as a Ni-Kshay Mitra under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukta Bharat Abhiyan. The Central Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, presented the certificate of acknowledgment to JSP Foundation during a recent ceremony in Angul.
At the event, Dr. RP Joshi, the Deputy Director General (DDG) of TB, commended JSP Foundation’s commitment and proactive efforts in addressing the nutritional needs of TB patients. “Nutrition plays a pivotal role in the treatment and recovery of TB patients. The support from JSP Foundation in this regard will be invaluable,” he added.
This landmark initiative by JSP Foundation not only reinforces its commitment to public health but also sets a powerful example of how corporate entities can play a crucial role in supporting national healthcare missions.
As a Ni-Kshay Mitra, JSP Foundation will supply nutritional packets to all TB patients in the Angul district. These packets are meticulously designed to provide essential nutrients that are crucial for the health and recovery of TB patients.
Upon becoming a Ni-Kshay Mitra, JSP Foundation Group Head (CSR), Prashant Hota, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “This recognition underscores the vital role of public-private partnerships in advancing healthcare initiatives and highlights the importance of community support in combating public health challenges like tuberculosis. JSP Foundation is committed to collaborating with health authorities to ensure the sustainability and success of this essential program,” said Hota.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Dr. Shivananda Mohanty, CDM & PHO; Dr. Biswa Bihari Mohanty, ADPHO, TB; Dr. KK Tripathy, Economic Advisor, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare; Sophia Khumukcham, WHO NTEP National Consultant; and D. Dharma Rao, National Consultant- PMTBMBY, CTD, Delhi.
Under the visionary leadership of Chairperson Shallu Jindal, JSP Foundation has adopted over 5,000 TB patients nationwide, providing them with comprehensive nutritional support under the PM’s Ni-Kshay Mitra Yojana. This initiative also includes support for the education of patients’ children, ensuring a holistic approach to tackling the impact of tuberculosis.
