JSP Foundation, the social arm of Jindal Steel & Power (JSP), observed the World Food Day 2022 at various places across the country. Aligning with this year’s theme “Leave NO ONE behind”, JSP Foundation observed this special day in Odisha with the members of Angul District Farmer’s Club Federation, Women Self Help Groups, inmates of Adruta Children Homes at Angul, Dhenkanal, Puri and Sundargarh.

Ensuring food security for each and every person is always a matter of concern for Jindal Steel & Power Chairman Naveen Jindal who had moved a private resolution in the Lok Sabha in 2006 for a Zero Hunger Act.

On this occasion, JSP Foundation Chairperson Shallu Jindal said “At JSP Foundation, everyday we are striving hard to ensure a Hunger Free India.  Aligning with the spirit of World Food Day, we are partnering with the government and other stakeholders to have complete Food Security for our countrymen and therefore, working right from raising food production to providing food support to the underprivileged and vulnerable. None should sleep with an empty stomach is our motto.”

To mark the day, several awareness sessions were conducted to enhance the knowledge of the villagers and educate them to grow more food in a natural way and the benefits of nutritious food for good health.

All the participants vowed to spread the message of the importance of this day among the communities and never let anyone starve because of lack of access to food in their surroundings and not to waste food at any point of time.

As a responsible corporate entity, JSP Foundation is providing food and nutrition supplements to more than 8,000 underprivileged and socially vulnerable everyday. The Foundation’s Mission Zero Hunger serves orphan children, destitute, street dwellers, inmates of elderly care centres, people with special needs, widows, divyangas and malnourished children. During the COVID-19 pandemic, JSP Foundation had provided more than 1 million meals to the migrants, underprivileged and socially vulnerable.

For ensuring Food Security, JSP Foundation also has been collaborating with the Line Departments of the Government, Farmers’ Clubs, Agro Service Societies to support the farming communities to increase food production and productivity on a sustainable basis.
