Launching the third edition of its flagship program, Yashasvi, the JSP Foundation — the social arm of Jindal Steel & Power — provided financial assistance to 4,254 selected girls and women from socio-economically weaker sections in Odisha, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh in its third edition.
JSP Foundation Chairperson Shallu Jindal inaugurated the program, presenting scholarship awards aimed at empowering women in their pursuit of higher education and skill development.
Yashasvini Jindal, Advisor and key architect of the initiative, graced the occasion, offering words of encouragement to the selected women and girls.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Shallu Jindal stated, “JSP Foundation is committed to fostering inclusivity and gender equality. The Yashasvi program aims to positively impact the community by nurturing women’s growth and providing opportunities for excellence in their chosen fields.”
She extended congratulations to all participants and expressed best wishes for their success.
“I am delighted to see that many young women supported in the past two editions have secured employment or fulfilled their dreams for higher education. I am confident the third edition will transform more lives, fulfilling personal and professional dreams,” she added.
The JSP Foundation received 8,914 applications; 4,254 were selected from 81 districts of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, including 3,430 newly added. Of them, 2,689 are from Odisha, 934 from Chhattisgarh, and 631 from Jharkhand. The scholarship has been renewed for 824.
The awardees will receive financial support for course and associated fees for vocational training or academic courses in professional or general streams. The Foundation will remit the assistance directly to the institutions. Students will pursue courses at 250 credible institutions across India.
A total of 1,807 women and girls are pursuing higher education from 12th to PhD level in engineering, medicine, science, nursing, management, pharmacy, physiotherapy, social science, and regular streams. Additionally, 3,430 women are pursuing skill development in COPA, sewing machine operation, retail sales, front office management, data entry, beauty therapy, medical technician, and others.
Started in 2022, the Yashasvi program now covers over 10,000 women and girls facing difficulties in academic or skill development due to financial constraints. Selection is based on the student’s financial condition and past academic performance.
JSP President and Group Head (CSR) Prashant Kumar Hota expressed gratitude to participants and institutions for their overwhelming response. He highlighted the program’s objectives and vision.
JSP’s Executive Director and Angul Unit Head Pankaj Malhan, Barbil Unit Head Purushotham MD, President and CFO (Raigarh Unit) Hanuman Sharma, Patratu Unit Head Ashish Jain, and JPL’s Tamnar Unit Head Chhavi Nath Singh, along with senior executives, were present at the occasion.
