JSP Foundation’s ‘Yashasvi’ scholarship helps Namrata Behera top university in BSc Computer Science

Keonjhar/Joda, May 31, 2024 (TBB Bureau): Namrata Behera, a standout student from Vishwa Vinayak Degree College, has achieved the highest honours in BSc Computer Science at Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University. This remarkable achievement has brought immense pride to her hometown in Keonjhar District.

Namrata, the daughter of Bijayananda and Geetanjali Behera from Dalanga village under Khireitangiri Gram Panchayat of Keonjhar District, scored an impressive 87%, totalling 1,219 out of 1,400 marks. Her success was made possible by the ‘Yashasvi’ scholarship program, an initiative of the JSP Foundation, the philanthropic wing of Jindal Steel & Power. The program aims to empower meritorious girl students by supporting their higher education.

The ‘Yashasvi’ scholarship program is designed to support and empower meritorious girl children, enabling them to continue their higher education after matriculation.

Expressing her gratitude, Namrata thanked JSP Foundation, her teachers, and her family for their unwavering support. “This achievement would not have been possible without the foundation’s support, my hard work, and the encouragement from my teachers,” she said.

Rabinarayan Mahanta, the Principal of Vishwa Vinayak Degree College, along with other district dignitaries, lauded Namrata’s accomplishments and commended JSP Foundation for its dedication to empowering girls through education.

Since its launch in 2022, the ‘Yashasvi’ program has enabled over 11,000 girls from marginalized communities to pursue higher education and vocational training at prestigious institutions nationwide. The initiative continues to transform lives and promote self-reliance and empowerment among young women in India.
