Employees of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) observed Fitness Day on Tuesday to mark the birthday of JSPL Chairman Naveen Jindal, who is known for his fitness and patriotism, besides being an industrialist.
On the occasion, JSPL and its social arm JSPL Foundation organised various programmes to promote fitness among employees and local community, and distributed OP Jindal Scholarships among eligible students in Angul.
JSPL Foundation distributed OP Jindal Star and OP Jindal Jewel Scholarship to support local meritorious students from financially weaker sections of the society to help them continue their higher education. Angul Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain and JSPL Executive Director Hrideshwar Jha presented the scholarship amount and certificates to eligible students from Chhendipada and Banarpal blocks. District Education Officer Kalpana Behera, HR & ES Head of JSPL Angul Ravi Shankar were also present on the occasion.
As part of its Fitness Day celebration, JSPL Foundation opened an Open Gym at Jarasingha Village for the health and wellbeing of the local community. The Gym was inaugurated by Tapan Kumar Satapathy, ADM, Angul.
A Yoga camp was also conducted in Jarasingha under the guidance of Yoga Guru Swami Satyabindu Saraswati ji. Local villagers and youths in large numbers attended the camp.
Hrideshwar Jha also attended the cake-cutting ceremony held at the office premises where senior officers including Damodar Mittal, President; Atul Dubey, EVP; Ashish Pandey, AVP and others also joined the celebrations. A special puja was also performed in the temple praying for the good health and prosperity of the JSPL Chairman.
The Barbil Unit of JSPL also celebrated the birthday of JSPL chief as ‘Fitness Day’. To raise awareness about physical wellbeing and good health of employees and workers, a walkathon was organised in the residential area of the pellet plant in which all the employees and their family members participated in large numbers.
The day started with the flagging-off of a walkathon by the Unit Head Brij Badhadra. The event witnessed a footfall of hundreds of participants maintaining physical distance and the enthusiasm was clearly visible among children who gave slogans on physical fitness.
In his address Badhadra said, “To remain physically fit, if we practice yoga it has two benefits; it will lessen our mental stress and we will be more productive. We must learn this from our Hon’ble Chairman Shri Naveen Jindal ji who is a role model for the Gen Next for his fitness and tenacity. By being more productive, we will be able to contribute for an Aatma Nirbhar Bharat.”
On the occasion everyone took the pledge to follow the fitness mantra of iconic Chairman Naveen Jindal.
Later in the day, a cake cutting ceremony was organised in the pellet plant premises in which all the employees and workers joined.
Among others Commercial Head SK Agrawal; Operation Head MD Purushottam; Head (HR &ES) Sarat Kishore Panda, Electrical Head Sunil Pattnayak; Mechanical & Maintenance Head Deepak Dash, and CSR Head Vargil Lakra were present on the occasion.
