Continuing its fight against COVID-19, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) has launched the vaccination drive at its Angul steel making facilities. The vaccination drive would cover the company’s employees and the entire workforce along with their families.
Pursuing the vision of its founder OP Jindal to serve the society in a holistic way through business, JSPL management has geared up the COVID-19 vaccination drive to meet its larger goal; and has chalked out a plan to achieve the target without any miss.
Speaking on this initiative, the Angul Location Head and Executive Director of JSPL Hridayeshwar Jha said, “From supplying medical oxygen to various hospitals in the country and setting up of a COVID Care Centre to feeding the needy and vulnerable, we at JSPL are committed to support the government and community in the fight against the global pandemic. This mass vaccination drive would also contribute to further strengthen our fight to defeat the Covid pandemic.”
“This is a big way forward to actualize the vision of our respected Chairman Shri Naveen Jindal who always considers ‘People First’,” he added.
At its Angul location, JSPL plans to cover its total employees, the entire workforce and their families. Most of the workforce of the Plant belongs to the periphery villages. Subsequently, the Company is looking forward to collaborate with the Government to vaccinate the local community.
JSPL Foundation, the CSR arm of JSPL, has already started screening and awareness on vaccination in the periphery villages.
JSPL has set up vaccination centres at different locations of the steel plant and its township area. The Company has procured the required vaccine for its employee and workers. People from 18-44 age group took the vaccine as per the government guidelines.
The persons those who are eligible to get their second shot are also being vaccinated at their respective vaccination points.
The vaccination drive is organised with all the COVID-19 prevention protocols such as physical distancing, wearing of face-masks, pre-vaccination screening, post-vaccination observation, etc.
It has been made mandatory for everyone to register through CO-WIN app only.
JSPL has recently established a COVID Care Centre at Angul. The centre is equipped with 270 oxygen supported beds, 10 non-invasive ventilation beds and five ICU beds with ventilators.
The Company, through its social arm JSPL Foundation, also provides various emergency services to communities during this pandemic period. Under ‘Mission Zero Hunger’, the Company has been providing dry rations to the needy, poor and the vulnerable in Angul and other locations. JSPL Foundation also has been distributing face masks and sanitizers stitched by the Women SHG members supported by the Foundation. Local villages and public utility areas around the plant are also being sanitised. Besides, JSPL Foundation has also taken up a massive awareness campaign to sensitise people about the deadly coronavirus.
