Major Hindu shrines in Odisha reopen for devotees

After remaining closed for nearly nine months, several temples across Odisha on Sunday reopened for devotees with COVID-19 guidelines issued by the authorities.

The major temples included Jagannath Temple in Puri, Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, Baladevjew Temple in Kendrapara, Akhandalamani Temple in Bhadrak, Maa Samaleswari Temple in Sambalpur and Taratarini Temple in Ganjam.

The devotees were allowed to enter into the temples adhering to COVID-19 guidelines for while temple authorities made special arrangements for smooth darshan for devotees.

The devotees were allowed into these temples after furnishing COVID-19 negative certificate at the entrance.

Wearing mask and sanitising their hands, the devotees entered the temple for darshan after showing their ID proofs. However, they were not allowed to carry flowers, diyas and offerings for worshiping the deities inside the temples.
