SAMBALPUR, JUNE 10, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): In a significant move to bolster healthcare infrastructure in Odisha, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has launched an ambitious Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative named “Aarogya.” This initiative aims to enhance healthcare services, with a special focus on cancer treatment, and marks a critical step towards improving medical facilities in the region.
On Saturday, MCL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, to formalize this commitment. The MoU, which outlines the Rs 18.22 crore “Aarogya” project, was signed by Subhrajyoti Sahoo, Manager (Civil)/CSR, representing MCL, and Prof. (Dr) Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, on behalf of the medical institute.
Project “Aarogya” is designed to significantly improve access to high-quality healthcare, particularly in the field of oncology. One of the key components of the project is the construction of a state-of-the-art multi-utility Gastronomy Block at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. This new facility will cater to the diverse needs of cancer patients, providing advanced medical equipment and materials necessary for comprehensive cancer care.
The initiative reflects MCL’s commitment to addressing critical healthcare challenges and underscores the importance of corporate responsibility in fostering community well-being. By partnering with AIIMS Bhubaneswar, MCL aims to leverage the expertise and infrastructure of one of the country’s premier medical institutions to deliver superior healthcare services to the people of Odisha.
Prof. (Dr) Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the transformative potential of the new gastronomy block. “This collaboration with MCL will enable us to expand our capacity and enhance our capabilities in providing top-notch cancer care. It is a significant step forward in our mission to serve the community with the best possible medical services,” he said.
Subhrajyoti Sahoo, representing MCL, emphasized the company’s dedication to social welfare through strategic CSR initiatives. “Project ‘Aarogya’ is a testament to our commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and accessibility in Odisha. We are proud to partner with AIIMS Bhubaneswar in this noble endeavour,” he stated.
As the construction of the new Multi-utility Gastronomy Block progresses, it is expected to bring substantial benefits to patients and their families, addressing the urgent need for advanced medical facilities in the region.
