NTPC Kaniha initiates RAA in government schools across Angul district

KANIHA, JULY 23, 2022

NTPC Kaniha in collaboration with Unit of Science and Educational Development (UNISED) initiated Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA) activities in 20 government schools of Angul district, 10 near NTPC Talcher and as many near NTPC Kaniha.

The activity involved a two-day Capacity Building Workshop at NTPC, Kaniha, Angul, for government school teachers of Talcher and Kaniha on July 22 and 23. RAA aims to integrate school based knowledge to life outside the school by bringing higher educational institutes like IITs, NITs and ISRO closer to government schools and make learning of Science and Mathematics a joyful and meaningful activity.

The innovative capacity-building program was inaugurated by National Program Advisor, RAA and Policy Advisor to Central Government Avaneesh Tripathi in the presence of AGM-CSR, NTPC Ltd Kaniha Rafiqul Islam, National Resource Person-RAA and Director-Pedagogy, Research and Innovation UNISED Dr. RN Lenka and Senior Project Engineer, CSE Department IIT Kanpur Anurag Pandey.

As part of the innovative hands-on activities, Pandey demonstrated activities involving sound waves, air pressure, water pressure, geometry, algebra and the synthesis of carbon dioxide. As a national expert on pedagogy, research and innovation Dr Lenka, emphasized on the pedagogical perspectives of RAA and their applicability within and beyond classroom situations.Former consultant in Early School Mathematics Programme, Elementary Education Department, NCERT Uzma Malik, underscored various mathematical concepts and Sujeet Kumar Singh, Vedic  Math Expert, focused on the practice of Vedic Math through the video conference.
