City-based Kritya Mishra has brought laurels for the state as she has been chosen to receive the prestigious Center for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) scholarship.

The Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), New Delhi, is an autonomous body under the aegis of Government of India’s ministry of culture.

The 14-year-old Kritya, daughter of noted economist Dr Pravas Mishra, is an emerging talent in Odissi dance. She has been learning Odissi from her childhood from Manisha Manaswini, a renowned Odissi exponent.

Prior to this award, Kritya has performed at many state level platforms on different occasions.

Kritya, apart from learning Odissi, has also a different dream. She aspires to become an author. She has already penned a novel titled ‘A journey’ and the work has been published. Her creative works have been appreciated by some national level publishers such as the ‘Book Buzz’ and ‘Bombay Duck.’

A student of Standard IX at St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, Bhubaneswar, Kritya has been assiduously honing up her dance skills to excel at bigger national and international stages.

Kritya gives credit for her success to her mother SubhankariKar, a renowned TV artist, and father Dr Pravas Mishra.

“My parents Dr Pravas Mishra and SubhankariKar as well as Guru Manisha Manaswini have always been my pillars of support and source of inspiration. It’s because of their constant motivation and guidance, I have been honoured with this prestigious award. I will make constant endeavours to achieve similar success in the future and make my state proud,” says Kritya.
