New Delhi, November 19, 2024 (TBB Bureau): The stage is set for a grand celebration as the Odia Samaj, a premier New Delhi-based Odia organization, proudly announces the 7th edition of Odisha Parba 2024. This resplendent event, showcasing the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Odisha, will take place from November 22 to 24, 2024, at the iconic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.
This three-day cultural extravaganza, dedicated to promoting Odia Asmita (Odia pride), promises to immerse attendees in Odisha’s timeless traditions, vibrant arts, and culinary delights.
The inaugural day will witness the presence of eminent dignitaries. Droupadi Murmu, President of India, will inaugurate the event on November 22 as the Chief Guest. She will be joined by Mohan Charan Majhi, Chief Minister of Odisha, Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education, and Bhartruhari Mahtab, Member of Parliament, as Guests of Honour. Adding to the grandeur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will grace the closing ceremony on November 24, making the occasion truly historic.
Sidhartha Pradhan, President of Odia Samaj, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Odisha Parba is a testament to our efforts to take the rich Odia heritage across the globe. A special highlight will be “Biplabi Bajia,” a historical children’s play conceptualized by Pinkwood Creations & Pace Foundation. Contemporary music performances by celebrated Odia artists such as Barnali Hota, Swayam Padhi, and Diptirekha Padhi, along with dynamic rap acts by Rapper Big Deal and Prayas Bahidar, are sure to captivate audiences of all ages.
For food enthusiasts, the event offers an irresistible array of authentic Odia delicacies, including dahibara-aloodum, mudhi-manso, traditional thalis, and sweet treats like pithas. With over 45 food stalls, attendees will have a chance to savor the best of Odisha’s culinary heritage. Meanwhile, shopping enthusiasts can explore 25 handloom and handicraft stalls, featuring exquisite creations that celebrate the artistry of Odia craftsmen.
This year, Odisha Parba introduces several new elements that add depth and diversity to the celebration. A Book Lounge, managed by the National Book Trust of India, will offer visitors a glimpse into the richness of Odia literature while hosting an Odia Conclave focusing on Odia language, identity, and the New Education Policy. Aspiring entrepreneurs will have a unique opportunity to engage with over 30 founders of startups with roots in Odisha, gaining valuable insights and inspiration from their journeys. Recognizing the influence of digital media, prominent social media influencers from Odisha will document and share the event’s vibrant essence, ensuring that the state’s heritage resonates with global audiences.
